UNESCO describes Cirta as an important Numidian city and residence of the Massyli kings, rebuilt and renamed after destruction in 311. Its heritage spans Numidian, Roman, Muslim, Ottoman and colonial periods; a UNESCO project page is not World Heritage inscription.
