Find on the mapHistory and cultural importance
The town was known as La Calle during the colonial period. Protecting its surrounding lakes, forests and wetlands is now an important part of its heritage. The park is on UNESCO’s Tentative List, not the inscribed World Heritage List. It combines lakes, wetlands, forests and coastal ecosystems.
Suggested activities
Birdwatching from a safe distance, walking on permitted trails and photography without disturbing wildlife. Choose two sites or one neighbourhood to begin, then adapt the programme around admission, transport and breaks. Out-of-town excursions need separate arrangements; links between guides prove neither distance nor travel time.
Best seasons
Choose activities around the weather during your stay, not a guaranteed season. Check heat, wind and road conditions before outdoor visits and leave time for breaks.
Getting there and around
Check open trails and guidance with the park administration.
Local cuisine and traditions
The region combines coastal culture, fishing and local traditions; ask about products available locally.
Practical visitor advice
Do not feed wildlife or collect plants; respect protected areas and do not light fires. Confirm entry conditions and accessibility for your mobility needs before travelling. Some religious, residential or protected places do not permit unrestricted visits. No fee, opening time or event is guaranteed here.
